Mythological Demons Are Real - by Barbara F. - First, I would like to say that I feel it is detrimental to humanity that science scoffs at a lot of what it doesn't understand and doesn't fit into their normal pattern of things. Now, I would like to tell you about ONE of my unusual experiences.
     I was about 18, living with two female friends and a baby in a one-bedroom, third-floor tenement apartment in Lynn, Massachusetts, on a hill approaching what is known as High Rock Towers. For a time, I would hear leaves rustling, as if someone were walking through leaves three flights down. It made me uneasy because this was occurring on a nightly basis at approximately 3 a.m. I comforted myself by telling my friends about it and saying to myself that I'm safe because it remained outside three flights down. But after a while, that changed. No longer was it staying outside three flights down, but it began to climb the three flights of stairs, always making sounds of low growling and what seemed to be the sound of one foot always hitting the stairs, as if it were being dragged.
     I was very scared now and told both of my friends about the seemingly nightly visitations. Only one of my two friends believed me enough to sit up with me searching into the outside darkness trying to get a glimpse of what I thought was a prowler. A prowler, that made a growling like noise, that dragged a leg and was now coming up three flights of stairs, pacing from my front to back door almost on a nightly basis.
     Until one very early morning, I had not yet seen this visitor. What now was the usual in our apartment was that my believing friend and I would stay up all night in an effort to either see and confront this individual, and also to protect ourselves as we now felt very threatened. My friend and I had, as was customary, stayed up all night on watch and were looking out of our kitchen window when we both saw something peering from behind a tree directly in front of our kitchen window across a narrow driveway. It was staring up into our kitchen window. I had never seen anything like what I was now seeing, and because of this asked my friend to describe to me what SHE was seeing to see if her description matched what I was seeing. She described the thing EXACTLY as I was seeing it - and it wasn't human or any animal I had ever heard of or ever seen.
     There's more to this story that I haven't yet mentioned, like the night as it paced from front to back door reaching the back door and turning the doorknob in efforts to get into our apartment. I woke the unbelieving friend and told her this visitor was now trying to get into the apartment. Still not believing, but to quiet me she got up and came with me into the kitchen and watched and listened in terror as she heard the low growling as the doorknob continued to turn. All three of us ran from the kitchen to the parlor as we heard the low growling approaching the front door which led into our parlor. We stood there terrorized as again the doorknob began to turn.
     Now I have to describe this to give you an accurate picture. Our front door did not meet the floor; there was approximately an inch between the bottom of the door and the floor. What I saw and my friends saw from the space between the floor and the door was unlike anything I had ever seen and have since, (except for what I will later tell you) ever seen. There was a foot - not quite human, with skinny, bony toes and sparse long hair showing itself from under the door. I could go on and on because this visitation went on for months before we finally got a glimpse of it. But I won't, I'll get to the point that I need to make.
     Because of our experiences with this thing and its continued efforts to get into our apartment, we decided to move, and move we did. The story could have ended there, except for one happened-upon piece of information that I will now relay. It was, at least, a year from our visitations and I was visiting my mother who had shopped at a local supermarket and as a promotion she would be able to purchase encyclopedias at a very low cost for shopping at that market. I loved encyclopedias and was thumbing through one during my visit when I was stopped dead in my tracks. There in the margin was an exact picture of what I and my friend had seen a year before. I went on to read about this picture and I will tell you what I remember it saying. This being was said to be a mythological demon, that when it stood upright would DRAG A LEG! I only wish I could remember the name of this so-called mythological demon, but I can't.
     Mythological! This creature is NOT mythological. I experienced it, saw it with my OWN eyes and even had my friend describe what she was seeing prior to my telling her what I was seeing. There's no mass hysteria in this experience, as science might say. I saw it, she described it. It is not mythological. IT IS REAL! This causes me to question mythology and ask how much of mythology is REAL! Source: About.com True, this is a mythological creature that happens to be real, like Gargoyles. Not minions of the "unfriendlies".

Location. San Luis Potosi Mexico  Date: September 1 1967  Time: unknown
A number of American tourists who had parked their campers at the famous Cactus Inn claimed to have seen strange griffin-like creatures with tremendous wingspans flying overhead.

Location. Near Allende, Nuevo Leon, Mexico  Date: July 25 1994  Time: evening
At a local ranch, a woman encountered a strange winged half bird - half man humanoid, covered with gray feathers up to his shoulders and with a human head, claw like feet and huge wings on his back.  HC addition # 2952  Source: Marco A Reynoso  A mythological and REAL being that can travel interdimensionally.

Satyr's

Location. West Yaroslavl Province, Russia  Date: 1938
Time: unknown     A local grandmother named Marfa had gone to her cow barn when she stumbled upon a dwarf-like humanoid standing near the feeding trough staring at the cow. Meanwhile the cow was chewing hay peacefully. The woman was amazed as the humanoid took some hay with his hand and put it in his mouth, apparently mimicking the cow. The grandmother screamed and the alien turned around to look at her. At this point she noticed that he had a greenish face, he then dropped the hay and walked away. While walking he emitted a very peculiar noise that sounded like, "tsok, tsok tsok", as if the alien was wearing horseshoes on his feet. The witness also noticed that the humanoid had a straight nose and wore tight-fitting cloths. Footprints resembling those of a horseshoe were found the next day. Location. Near Athens, Greece  Date: 1950  Time: midnight
A Greek Army major and several others had gone hunting in a jeep. Around midnight, the light beams of the car caught a strange creature, about 20 meters away. It was human from the waist up and hairy and animal like from the waist down. The creature was dancing and hopping in front of the astonished men. The major took his gun out but he was so afraid that he could not hold it straight. They made a u-turn and returned to town as fast as they could.

Location. Tlahualilo, Durango, Mexico  Date: August 1955  Time: afternoon
Several laborers were returning to their ranch on horseback and as they neared a cross roads near Huaca Mountain noticed a strange figure moving rapidly among the nearby brush, the figure was moving as fast as a horse but the terrified witnesses noticed that it was clearly not a horse. The figure jumped a barbwire fence about 100meters from the witnesses and at this point the witnesses were able to see it in more detail. They described it as about 1.50m in height, long goat-like legs, on its head it had two horn-like protrusions, and its face was covered with thick beard. Gargoyles

Location. Parral, Chile  Date: June 30 2004  Time: night   
Farmer Juan Acuña Pereira was walking home from the fields when a strange winged dog-like creature near the Fiscal Canal reportedly attacked him, he reported seeing two of the creatures. Apparently the smaller one of the creatures was more aggressive going for his throat. Juan protected himself with his arms and suffered deep scratches and scars. He fell to the ground and one of the creatures bit his ankle. He managed to break free and jumped into the canal, while the strange creatures flew over it back and forth apparently waiting for him to come out of the water. Finally the creatures gave up and left the area flying at very high speed. He further described the creatures as resembling earless dogs, with glowing eyes and triangular shaped fangs.  Another farmer reported finding 14 of his lamb dead apparently mutilated but not eaten. Source: http://www.ovniaventura.com  Gargoyles. They sometimes eat domestic animals but do not such blood.  The witness lied some.  In truth he came upon them, surprised them and attacked them. They don't attack humans.

Location. Near Pampa Acha, Iquique, Chile  Date: July 15 2004  Time: 2100  
Six member of the Abett de la Torre Diaz family were on their way to Arica and were nearing an area called Presencias Tutelares when suddenly the area around the vehicle seemed to darken. Several of the occupants of the vehicle, including Carlos Abett de la Torre, an army officer, and then spotted four bizarre creatures winged creatures with dog-like heads floating slowly across the road, one of Carlos's daughters, Carmen Abett de la Torre thought the creatures somehow resembled "gargoyles". The wing-like protrusions on the creatures seemed to be moving "backwards." The witnesses estimated the creature's height as about 2 meters in height, two of the creatures flew directly above the vehicle, and the other two moved just ahead of the vehicle in strange jump-like bounds. Flying Gargoyles All three of these beings can move from one dimension to another.  This group also has no current interests in humans. They don't serve us.  There was a time 1000 AD to 1500 AD when these beings were seen and interacted with us to some degree. Due to fears on some humans parts the two groups eventually distanced themselves. This is when humans came up with the Gargoyles concept. A scary figure to ward off whatever. Not all Gargoyles are bat-like.
